4MINUTE
Cube Entertainment had announced the creation of 4Minute in May 2009, with the identity of two group members: Nam Ji-hyun, leader of the group and Kim Hyun-a, a former member of Wonder Girls. The rest of the members were announced on June 12. Cube Entertainment stated that the name 4Minute was given because of the belief that the group can charm the audience with a four-minute-long performance.
On June 18, 4Minute debuted with their first single "Hot Issue". At the end of August, their first mini-album, For Muzik was released. At the same time they released their second single, "Muzik", which won them a Mutizen and Mnet award. Their third single, "What a Girl Wants", was released shortly after the release of the mini-album.
They acquired a Reality Show through MTV, called MTV 4minute, which consisted of 20 episodes, each 4 minute long. It first aired on August 10, 2009.
